This cartoon reflects my point...
this is an essay i am posting on freeminds... i'm posting it here too for good measure.... it is well known that the 9-11 attackers had a belief in an afterlife.
as the story goes, apparently they believed that after they would die gloriously, having killed thousands of american infidels, they would be taken into paradise and would enjoy the company of 72 virgins.. .
i think it is quite easy to see the connection between the belief in such an afterlife and the nefarious deeds that these men committed.

i was raise to be a jw but fortunately i was able to brake free of their mind control.
when i was growing up my personalty often clashed with the jw lifestyle.
i tried so hard to find peace, i tried doing as i was told only to end up disappointed and feeling empty.
Amen A-C... Amen!
the march 2009 american religious identification survey from trinity college and the march 7, 2009, national journal article on "rise of the godless" present the following data: .
when asked for their religious affiliation, 15 percent of americans say none, but only 0.7 percent say atheist ..... .
i present the above info just as a reminder that very, very few people consider themselves atheist despite decades of "scientific" propaganda suggesting otherwise.
Yet, everyday atheists must look at the matter around them and somehow believe that something came from nothing. This is the supreme definition of cognitive dissonance.
And Perry looks around and says that God has always existed, although he hasn't been around for a while (1 Kings 18 test, anyone?)... Go figure...
Atheists don't believe that anything came from nothing. We are content to say: "We just don't have the answer, yet, but we are looking for it."
so, is this a worldwide, unwritten jw superstition, or just limited to northern california?.
statements like: "satan always seems to work extra hard around the memorial".. anybody who gets dfed or reproved, etc.
this time of year it's always attributed to extra work by the debil.. of course the rest of the year confirmation bias kicks in and those data points are ignored.. how about in your area?.
LOL @ Rebel8 and NY44M...
I'm happy to be under demonic influence too...
a while back someone posted a really nice chart showing the number of publishers, baptisms, estimated deaths, disfellowshippings etc.
; and came up with a projected turnover rate of publishers in the borg.. .
does anyone know where that might be?.
Check out jwfacts.com
they may still be in raleigh, have no idea, before that they were in queens, ny area, in 1990's, last i heard they were in the raleigh area of north carolina, seemed like they were a couple that "knew what wazzup" with the borg, but since their room and board and car was paid for by the borg, hey, they had a good thing goin', .

I knew Gordon before he was a CO in the Flushing NYC congregation. I went to his house a few times... he had a bookstudy there...
someone (a born-again exjw) on youtube asked me why i was an atheist... i crafted a brief response... it follows:.
1. religious reason: there is no proof for god outside of the bible.
once i dropped my belief in the bible, the judeo-christian concept of god fell apart like a house of cards.
It is actually impossible to prove God does not exist, hence your fallback here in point f. Deism is quite appealing in that regard - maybe there was a creator but he certainly doesn't do anything anymore.
Very few people are such strong atheists so that they deny God's existence... even Richard Dawkins speaks in probabilities, and suggests that God is quite improbable, although possible.

I'm glad the discussion is going well and we're getting various points of view....
BTW, I based my concept of the anointed on my experiences with my stepdad, who definitely does not take care of his health, and I think his heavenly hope is a factor in this. Also, I have seen that memebrs of the GB have had a similar attitude, wanting to die early so they can go to heaven.
jehovah's witnesses proclaim god's purpose to bring a paradise earth that will rid mankind of all of its problems.
sounds great, right?
the only problem is that it's not based on the bible.
Thanks suspicios minds... I've been told about the typo, but its too late to change...LOL... I could add a notation when I get around to it...

fair enough Jimmy.... you are right... I am just an unreasonable atheist...
but Perry and I (and others) have butted heads about the same subject on other threads... I don't see the point, nor the relevancy
